When lessons fall in US time
Kraga's teachers work on India Standard Time, and live slots run from 9 AM to 8 PM IST. India is 9.5 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time and 12.5 hours ahead of Pacific Daylight Time, so in summer the slots fall between 11:30 PM and 10:30 AM on the East Coast and between 8:30 PM and 7:30 AM on the West Coast. In winter, when US clocks fall back, everything moves one hour earlier in US time. The booking page shows each slot in your own time zone.
In practice, East Coast and Central students take an early-morning lesson before school or work, or a weekend morning lesson, while West Coast and Mountain students can also use evening slots after dinner. That is a normal arrangement for an online music school teaching across time zones, and it keeps lessons out of the crowded after-school hours.
Fitting lessons around the US school year
Most US school districts run from late August or early September to late May or June, with a winter break and a spring break, although dates vary from district to district. Lessons can continue over breaks and the summer, when more morning slots open up, or pause around family travel. A lesson programme stays valid for 12 months, so a packed semester does not waste lessons.
Sitting a Trinity or ABRSM exam from the US
Trinity College London and ABRSM are UK-based boards. Both offer digital piano exams, recorded at home and submitted online, which means a US student does not need to travel to an exam venue. Face-to-face availability outside the UK depends on each board's current arrangements, so check the board's own website for what is open in your state before you plan around an in-person exam.
In most cases the family makes the entry directly with the board and pays the entry fee to the board. The teacher prepares the pieces and technical work, tells you when the student is ready, and goes through the board's recording rules so the video meets them first time. Setting up at home in the US
US mains power is 120 V. A keyboard or digital piano bought in the US comes with an adapter for that supply. If an instrument or adapter came from a country that uses 230 V, check the adapter's input rating before plugging it in; a plug converter changes the shape of the plug, not the voltage.
Video lessons need a stable connection more than a fast one. Keep the instrument within good Wi-Fi range or use a cable, and pause other heavy streaming in the house during the lesson. Place the phone, tablet or laptop to the side of the keys so the teacher can see both hands.

US piano lessons: common questions
What US time are the lessons?
Live slots run from 9 AM to 8 PM India time. In summer that is 11:30 PM to 10:30 AM Eastern and 8:30 PM to 7:30 AM Pacific, and one hour earlier in winter. Most US students take an early-morning, weekend or West Coast evening slot.
Can a US student take Trinity or ABRSM piano exams?
Yes. Both boards offer digital exams recorded at home, so no travel is needed. The family usually makes the entry with the board, and the teacher prepares the student and confirms when they are ready.
Will a keyboard bought in the US work for lessons?
Yes. Any keyboard or digital piano with a camera placed beside it works for online lessons. US instruments come with a 120 V adapter; only check the adapter if the instrument came from abroad.
What happens to lesson times when US clocks change?
India does not change its clocks, so when the US moves to or from daylight saving time in March and November, your lesson moves by one hour in US time. Check your calendar in the week the clocks change.
