Online Piano Classes for UK Students

Kraga's teachers work on India Standard Time, and live slots run from 9 AM to 8 PM IST. In British Summer Time that is 4:30 AM to 3:30 PM in the UK; in winter, when the UK is on GMT, it is 3:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The booking page converts every slot into UK time for you.

In practice UK students take an early-morning lesson before school or work, a weekend morning or early-afternoon lesson, or a daytime slot in the school holidays. Adults and home-educated students can also use weekday daytime slots. That is a normal arrangement for an online music school teaching across time zones, and a fixed weekly slot is what keeps progress steady.

Schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland run from September to July in three terms, each split by a half-term break; Scottish schools start in August and finish in late June or early July. Lessons can carry straight through half-terms and holidays, when daytime slots open up, or pause around family travel. A lesson programme stays valid for 12 months, so a busy term does not waste lessons.

Trinity College London and ABRSM are both UK exam boards, so UK students have the widest choice. Both hold face-to-face practical exams at venues across the UK on dates each board publishes, and both offer digital exams recorded at home and submitted online. The digital route suits online students well, because the exam is played on the instrument the student practises on every day.

In most cases the family makes the entry directly with the board and pays the entry fee to the board. The teacher prepares the pieces, scales and supporting tests, tells you when the student is ready, and goes through the board's recording rules if you choose a digital exam. UK mains power is 230 V with three-pin plugs. A keyboard or digital piano bought in the UK comes with a matching adapter; if you bring an instrument from another country, check that the adapter's input rating covers 230 V before plugging it in, rather than relying on a plug converter alone.

Video lessons need a stable connection more than a fast one. Put the instrument within good Wi-Fi range of the router or use a cable, and pause other heavy streaming in the house during the lesson. Place the phone, tablet or laptop to the side of the keys so the teacher can see both hands.
